Remembers the People’s Princess

With the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death approaching on August 31, the Humanities Department at the Main Library, 325 Michigan St. is showcasing a display of Princess Diana memorabilia on view now through the end of August.

Items in the display include a Royal Wedding Commemorative Crown coin, a People’s Princess doll, a Royal Wedding Wedgwood thimble, a Royal Wedding Day toffee tin, a Princess Beanie Baby and other British items and magazine covers collected throughout the past decade.

The collection celebrates the life and laments the early death of Princess Diana of Wales. Known for her compassionate heart, Princess Diana devoted much of her adult life to AIDS awareness and the campaign to ban land mines.

Princess Diana died in a car accident on August 31, 1997, but the legacy of her kindness lives on.
