DOWNTOWN FREMONT HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL SCARECROW DECORATING CONTEST
Fremont, Ohio, August 6, 2007- Downtown Fremont, Inc. is hosting the 2nd annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest in conjunction with the monthly Farmer’s Market event in September. Local businesses, service organizations and individuals are being encouraged to participate in the scarecrow decorating contest. The cost to enter the contest is $15.00 per scarecrow, plus the cost of materials needed to decorate your scarecrow. The entry fee includes the scarecrow frame. The scarecrows will be judged by the public, who will vote for their favorite scarecrow at designated voting locations downtown. The decorator of the winning scarecrow will receive a $100 cash prize. Also, all of the ballots cast for the scarecrows will be put in a drawing, with the winner receiving a $50 Downtown Gift Certificate.
Anyone wishing to participate in the contest must complete a registration form by 4 p.m. Wednesday August 15th. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, 101 S. Front St., by calling 419-332-8696, or by visiting www.fremontohio.org. The scarecrow frames will be available at the Chamber of Commerce on September 4th from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and decorated scarecrows must be returned to Downtown on Saturday, September 15th. The Scarecrows will be displayed downtown September 15th – September 24th, and the voting will be done during that time.
