On Sunday, September 30th from 12 to 5 pm, Bittersweet Farms (12660 Archbold/Whitehouse Rd, Whitehouse, Ohio) will be hosting their 23rd annual fundraiser, Harvest Fest. Adults and children will enjoy the live bands including Gene Zenz, The Simon Carter Band, Alma Drum & Dance, HandHewn, the Tim Oehler Trio, and Bittersweet’s own Hand Bell Choir; local vendors, Bar-B-Que Traveler’s famous chicken, our farm-raised pulled pork dinners, a children’s zone with fun and games, art activities and a greased pig contest.

Other highlights: hay rides, a corn maze, raffles, and a sale of arts and crafts made by the residents of Bittersweet. Admission is free; parking is $2 per car. All proceeds from the afternoon’s activities go to fund the programs of Bittersweet, Inc.

Bittersweet Farms, a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit, has been providing residential and vocational programs for people with autism for over 20 years. It is a therapeutic community where residents participate in a number of programs that help them to reach their individual potential. Bittersweet is the only program of its kind in Ohio and one of only a few in the nation. It has been recognized nationally and internationally.

Area residents come together to both provide service and to attend Harvest Fest. The Neapolis Fire Department provides emergency services; Girl Scouts paint faces; area churches bake for the bake sale; and local musicians provide the entertainment. Enjoy an afternoon of family fun down on the farm, and help support people with autism!
