Software Freedom Day 2007

Members of the Toledo Area Linux Users Group are celebrating International Software Freedom Day with an interactive event open to the general public at the West Toledo Branch Library on Saturday, September 15th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. The goal is to promote awareness of Free and Open Source Software, a powerful resource available to all computer users.

Are you fed up with battling viruses and spy-ware, tired of paying high prices for software that doesn’t fit your needs, or looking for a safe and easy way to get high-quality software that doesn’t hold back on features? If so, then Software Freedom Day is exactly what you need!

Presentations and demonstrations of free and open source software will be given on a rotating basis throughout the afternoon, each lasting about 10 minutes. Topics include: What is Free and Open Source Software?, Multimedia Programs, Office Programs, Internet Programs, Linux™, and, yes, Games! Feel free to bring your laptop computer and try them out yourself. Knowledgeable members from the Toledo Area Linux Users Group will be on hand to answer your questions.

Join the rapidly growing Free Software Movement and set your computer free! Computer CD-ROMs with the latest versions of the best free and open source software will be available free of charge to those who attend the event. These high-quality programs are designed for Microsoft® Windows® users and contain everything you need to get started. Why not give them a try?
