Sandy’s Stuff is noted as a top-quality consignment shop that carries women’s clothing and accessories for petite, plus-size, perfect-size and pregnant women. All scarves and some jewelry, handbags and clothing items are new, and the shop is the largest source of maternity clothing in the area.

“It’s a pleasure to shop at Sandy’s. She has great taste and bends over backward to give her customers what they want,” says Kathy Russell who has been shopping at Sandy’s Stuff for 10 years. “My daughter wanted a teddy bear that was on display and, although it was there for decoration, Sandy gave it to Tina. She shops at Sandy’s Stuff, too.”

“I’ve shopped at Sandy’s Stuff for five of my nine pregnancies. I want to look nice and can benefit from working women who can afford really nice maternity outfits and then put them on consignment,” says Lisa Baldwin. “My 10-year-old daughter and I can walk to Sandy’s and she is learning to buy nice scarves and jewelry at much less that they would cost at a department store.”

When growing up and into her adult life, thoughts of Pirwitz’s frugal mother kept her from shopping retail and paying full price for nice outfits. This background and her love for beautiful clothes helped her give up a 30-year career in nursing to become a consignment shop entrepreneur. Pirwitz opened her first storefront shop in September 1997 on Alexis near Meteor. She moved to a much larger shop at Laskey, near Secor, in March 1999. In January 2006, she moved into 3,500 square feet on Sylvania near Drummond.

“I make it a practice to never sacrifice quality for quantity and love helping women buy nice clothing without having to spend too much money. I’m very lucky to have dear friends I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for the store. I’m so pleased to celebrate my 10 years of success with my customers,” says Pirwitz.

Pirwitz is active in business networking organizations such as BNI and the Certified Networker program. Her business is a nationally recognized member of NARTS (National Association of Resale & Thrift Shops).
