“I can do all things . . . So can you,” says author, LAWRENCE CHRISTOPHER

At their 2007 National Convention in Toledo, the Circle of Friends Book Club introduced CHRISTOPHER as the Spike Lee of the urban book industry. That’s because he has independently published (MF Unlimited) six books across multiple genres. In 2001, CHRISTOPHER published his first installment of Mick Hart Mysteries with the geographic backdrop of Toledo, Ohio. His next novella was Ghettoway Weekend, an urban romance fiction, with a sequel Later Days & Nights to follow in 2008. What else is the arrogressive author up to; how about writing and illustrating The Tickle Fingers children’s book series?

The former Toledoan and one time freelance writer wants to encourage others to find success in whatever is their passion. LAWRENCE CHRISTOPHER comes to Toledo, to speak at Mott Branch, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, on Friday, October 19th, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., to share his accomplished success story. “You can do it yourself or at least know how,” says Christopher.

With over 50,000 copies in print of his book The Well-Fed Writer, author Peter Bowman writes; “Success as a self-publisher is far more a function of a process than an aptitude.”

CHRISTOPHER wants to demystify the process of publishing a book and the challenges of being successful. He says, “Don’t believe the hype. Being an author isn’t as glamorous or as hard to be as most people think. You go in mistakenly thinking it’s about prestige; and you quickly learn that it’s about pressed-ham, because you can’t eat prestige.”
