Film Screenings of “To Kill A Mockingbird”

As part of The Big Read initiative, the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library has partnered with the Maumee Indoor Theater, Rossford Public Library and Owens Community College to present special screenings of the 1962 Oscar®-winning film “To Kill A Mockingbird.”

The film, based on the classic 1960 book by Harper Lee, stars actor Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, a lawyer in a racially divided Alabama town in the 1930s who defends Tom Robinson, played by actor Brock Peters.

Film schedule:
· Tuesday, October 2 – Maumee Indoor Theater, 601 Conant Street, Maumee, 7 p.m.

· Sunday, October 7 – Rossford Public Library, 720 Dixie Highway, Rossford, 2 p.m.

· Friday, October 12 – Owens Community College, The Center for Fine and Performing Arts (1-800-GO-OWENS), 7 p.m.

The Library obtained a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant and contributions from the Toledo Community Foundation for The Big Read, which addresses the national decline in literary reading. As part of the grant, the Library encourages all Lucas County residents to read Harper Lee’s book “To Kill A Mockingbird.” The Big Read is an initiative of the NEA in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest.
