On October 27, 2007, at 3:00pm, at the Fine and Performing Arts Center of Owens Community College, the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra will open their 2007-2008 season by presenting their 2nd annual Halloween concert festival, with this year’s theme being “Heroes, Super Heroes, and Anti-heroes.” Families are invited to join symphony members in the free-to-the-public pre-concert events, which begin at 1:30 pm, and include an instrument “petting zoo”, sponsored by Rettig Music, free Halloween portraits for children, and costume-clad symphony members.
The concert schedule will include many well-known selections from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Star Wars,” and “Spider Man,” as well as classical selections such as Beethoven’s “Heroic Symphony No. 3,” and Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide.” This pops-style season premiere of the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra will be a wonderful blend of music genres that will please the entire family.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children out early to this exciting event, so kids can receive hands-on experience trying out different symphony instruments. It is an excellent opportunity to introduce them to classical music in a concert setting, to learn about, and play, the different instruments involved in symphony orchestras, to enjoy the Halloween decorations, and to get their “scary” portraits taken. In addition, PSO members will be distributing a limited number of fun goody bags to trick-or-treaters after the concert. Keep your eyes peeled for many more surprises, as well! Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling 567-661-2787. Prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for students. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets will also available at the door.
