The University of Toledo Department of Art proudly presents “Focus 2007,” an exhibition of the best high school artwork from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. The exhibition runs from Sunday, October 28 through Sunday, November 18 at the University’s Center for the Visual Arts Gallery, adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art.
This juried exhibition will feature over 250 works from 27 schools. Students submitted approximately 1,600 pieces of work in areas including painting, drawing, printmaking, 2-D design, sculpture, ceramics, graphics, metalsmithing, mixed media, textiles, and photography. In addition to 25 jurors’ awards, area school administrators and local businesses will give special awards.
Original entries from students in grades 9-12 were judged on skill, craftsmanship, and creative interpretation by a jury panel consisting of area artists, art educators, and gallery directors.
An artists’ reception and departmental open house will be held on Sunday, November 18, from 12-1 p.m. at the Center for the Visual Arts. An awards ceremony will take place from 1:45-2:30 p.m. in the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
