Looking for a fun outing with the family? Experience shopping, food, movies, and more at the Fort Meigs Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Join us in our decorated Visitor Center for a family friendly event filled with lots of activities for everyone.

Activities this year include candle-dipping, tomahawk throwing, and special hands-on activities. Returning this year is miniature war gaming. Come play this fun, kid friendly activity.

Local artisan Don Rasmussen will demonstrate 19th century tinsmithing and artisan Mike Rawson will demonstrate custom built, hand-made, wooden rocking horses. New this year is Perrysburg artisan Jennifer Frantz who will demonstrate how to make period floor coverings, called floor cloths. These versatile items were the linoleum of the 18th and 19th centuries. Jennifer’s creations are truly useable art and she will have a selection of floor cloths for sale.

Re-enactors portraying soldiers, civilians, and Native Americans from the War of 1812-era will provide musket demonstrations and discuss camp life during the winter. Kids can help decorate cookies and take them home for a special holiday treat. We will show our 15-minute video Fort Meigs in our orientation room. Don’t forget to shop the Ohio History Museum Store for unique holiday gifts or tour our indoor museum exhibit if shopping isn’t for you. There is something for everyone at our Holiday Celebration. Come enjoy the fun!

Fort Meigs’ Museum and Visitor Center is open year around Wednesday through Saturday, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from Noon – 5:00 pm.

Winter admission prices are $4.00 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, and children five and under are free. Fort Meigs, one of sixty sites operated by the Ohio Historical Society throughout the state, is located one mile west of Perrysburg on State Route 65.
