Toledo, OH – November 29, 2007 – Junior League of Toledo is pleased to announce a delectable, new fund raiser planned for Friday, January 25, 2008 from 7pm-12am at Gladieux Meadows. The Chocolate Soiree is a cocktail party showcasing and judging chocolate desserts from various local restaurants and stores while also providing vital financial support for the League’s leadership training programming for women. The event will feature a “People’s Choice” award for favorite chocolate creation and will include restaurants such as Mancy’s Steakhouse, Zia’s, Real Seafood, Beirut, Gianno’s Italian Bistro, Diva, Rouge Bistro, La Scola, Aladdin’s Eatery, Clara J’s Tea Room, Cake in a Cup, The Chocolate Shoppe and more. Johnny Rocker and the Hitmen will provide live music and guests will be able to bid on some exclusive items in a silent auction.
According to Crystal Tyo Mathias, Chairperson of The Chocolate Soiree, “This fundraiser will generate the needed funding for the Junior League of Toledo to carry out its mission of creating lasting community impact. What a great way to gather the public together and raise money to address these important community needs.”
Current community service projects focus on health and wellness issues and include:
• Toledo Smiles: promoting better oral health to Jr. High students in Toledo Public Schools.
• Food & Fitness: teaching pregnant and parenting teens about nutrition and exercise.
• Camp Little Shots: providing diabetes education for children and the general public.
