“First Light Sylvania”’ an alcohol-free New Year’s Eve Family Celebration will take place on December 31, 2007from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. This event is supported by the SHOP Sylvania campaign and takes place in six venues in downtown Sylvania and Sylvania Township and is coordinated by Eddie Boggs. Additionally, the event is underwritten with a grant from the City of Sylvania and the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce as well as major sponsors Shop Sylvania, Giant Eagle, City of Sylvania The Andersons, Flower Hospital, Lamar Advertising, The Moses-Schlachter Group, Wal-Mart and Reeb Funeral Home.
“First Light Sylvania” will have a Kid’s Creation Station, storytelling, Jim “Basketball” Jones, Guitar Hero Duels showing off guitar skills, ballet, kid’s carnival and magic at several different venues. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by Eddie Boggs, Kerry Patric Clark and groups to include barbershop, soft country/rock and a country bluegrass jam session. Venues will include the Sylvania Historical Village, Sylvania Franciscan Academy, The Wingate Hotel, Lourdes College and St. Joseph’s Church. There will be programs for the youngest, oldest and every age in between including a fireworks display from Harroun Park at 9:30 PM. Transportation will be available to take people from venue to venue.
Wrist Bands can be purchased at Giant Eagle, Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce, Chandler’s Cafe and the Franciscan Center at Lourdes College. Wrist bands are needed for admittance to all venues and the fireworks. Advance wrist bands are $5.00 each prior to December 31. Wristbands purchased on site will be $8.00 for an adult and $5.00 for a child.
