The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library presents a first-time gallery exhibit of The Blade photographers’ favorite photos shot over the course of 2007.

The exhibit, titled “The Year In Pictures,” is on view Wednesday, December 19 through Thursday, January 31, 2008 in the second floor gallery at Main Library, 325 Michigan St., in downtown Toledo.

Nate Parsons, Blade director of photography, said 26 photographs are displayed in the powerful exhibit, which includes moving images from the dove release to commemorate the lives lost in constructing the I-280/Veterans’ Glass City Skyway Bridge, to the funeral services of the late Toledo Police Detective Keith Dressel, who was killed in the line of duty by a 15-year-old male.

“The nice thing is that these photographers get to step into the lives of everyday Toledo and the surrounding area of people and spend some time with them and tell their stories visually to all of our readers,” said Parsons. “They stepped in the moments of good and tragedy that really yank our heartstrings and run the full gamut of life – from the joyous times, to the times when no one wants to be in their shoes.”
