“Tuesdays With Morrie” opens at the Village Players at 2740 Upton Avenue on January 11 and will run through January 26, 2008. The play, written by Mitch Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher, poignantly combines drama and comedy in two acts and is based on Albom’s best selling book of the same name.

“Tuesdays with Morrie” is a feast for the mind and the heart and tells the story of a man named Mitch who meets a teacher named Morrie when he signs up for one of his classes at Brandeis University. When it comes time for Mitch to leave he promises Morrie he will keep in touch. He doesn’t. Sixteen years later they meet again but by this time Morrie is dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Their friendship renews and during weekly visits Mitch learns more about how to live life by the example of Morrie’s positive approach to his last moments of life.

Village Player veteran, John Henry plays the endearing professor, Morrie and John Jennens, another veteran Village Player plays the sportswriter Mitch. Tickets are $14 and can be reserved by calling 419-472-6817.
