“The Toledo Rep” presents Master Class by Terrence McNally. Featuring current Artistic Director, Gloria Moulopoulos.
Saturday, February 9, 2008 – Special Benefit Performance To Celebrate the Toledo Rep’s 75th Anniversary

One Night Only!

The Story:
Opera legend Maria Callas is teaching a master class in front of an audience (the play-goers in attendance). Focusing on one hopeful student at a time, she’s glamorous, commanding, larger than life – and drop-dead funny. What starts as a class becomes a platform for Callas. She glories in her own career, dabbles in opera diss and flat-out seduces the audience. Her roller coaster of emotions includes a beautiful speech about the sacrifices we must make in the name of art.

Master Class is directed Jeffrey J. Albright, and stars current Artistic Director Gloria Moulopoulos. Also featured are: Maribeth Stahl, John Hopkins, Brian Weisenberger and Diane McEwen-Martin.
Ms. Moulopoulos recently reflected on her involvement with the play noting, “I feel frightened, humbled, and challenged. I hope to overcome the fright, sustain the humility and rise to the challenge, God willing.”
This special performance will be held at The Performing Arts Center at Owens Community College. Reception at 7 p.m., performance at 8 p.m., dessert following. Please join us for our largest fundraiser of the year!
Reception, Performance, Dessert $75
Performance and Dessert $25

About The Toledo Rep
On June 8, 1933, the very first Toledo Rep performance, Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, was held at Collingwood Presbyterian Church. By the next season, The Rep – Toledo’s first community theatre group – moved into and renovated The 10th Street Theatre, which today remains as The Rep’s “Mainstage.” The Rep began as a membership-only theatre, but by the 1960s, productions were opened to the general public and in 1963, the first full-time Artistic Director was hired. At the time, the organization was still known by its original name, “The Repertoire Little Theatre,” but this was changed to The Toledo Repertoire Theatre after another renovation of the 10th Street Building was completed.

Today, The Rep continues in its proud tradition by presenting its 75th season of quality theatrical productions for the community of Greater Toledo.
