THE MUSLIM AMERICAN LEGACY: EMBRACING THE PAST, BUILDING THE FUTURE

The Muslim American Society of Toledo and UT present their first annual Full-Day Conference

Local American Muslims are reviving their legacy by hosting a day long conference with prominent speakers and entertainment.

The conference is Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the University of Toledo. Everyone is invited to attend the conference, which will include lectures, educational children programs, workshops, and special sessions to celebrate Black History Month.

Some of the speakers who will be speaking at the event include: Mahdi Bray, MAS Freedom Foundation Director; Dr. Esam Omeish, MAS President; Raeed Tayeh, National Civil Rights Activist, Dawud Walid, Executive Director of CAIR Michigan, and more.

Salma Moosa, an organizer of the event and the media spokesperson said this conference is important.
“[It’s essential] to make others aware of the past and what our ancestors have done and impact that into the process of taking part of America’s future,” she said.

Entertainment will be performed by Native Deen, which will be their first time performing in Toledo at 8:30 in the Doerman theater. Native Deen’s website can be checked out at: http://nativedeen.com/ns/pages.php?ID=upcoming_events

Registration costs are $15 for students and $20 for non-students. There are special family rates at discounted price. A banquet dinner is included with the registration. Please check www.mastoledo.org to register and for more information. Early registration ends February first.
