Resident Conductor Chelsea Tipton, II, leads a musical tour by way of France, Italy, and Argentina as the Mozart and More Series continues Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Center on the campus of Lourdes College.
The orchestra will perform one of Mozart’s earliest successes, the joyful Paris Symphony. Mozart’s Paris Symphony was his thirty-first, and proved to be exceptionally popular, receiving numerous performances during his lifetime.
Also on the program is Mendelssohn’s exuberant Symphony No. 4. which is inspired by the colorful atmosphere of Italy. The program also includes Ginastera’s energetic Variaciones concertantes, inspired by the rhythms and colors of Argentinean folk dances.
A pre-concert lecture with Chelsea Tipton, II will be held at 6:30 p.m. onstage at the Franciscan Center. Media sponsor for the Mozart and More Series is WGTE Public Media.
