Important Information for All Wendy's Customers

Posted Feb 19th, 2008 by Gordon Bowman  Category: Arts & Entertainment

You may have heard about the recent USDA beef recall from Westland Hallmark Meat Company in California that has been the subject of an amimal-abuse investigation. The beef recall, involving 143 million pounds of frozen beef, is reportedly the largest ever in U.S.

Wendy’s is not associated with this recall in any fashion. The company is not a Wendy’s supplier and none of the beef from this plant is used in any Wendy’s product.

You can assure your customers or the local media that this recall does not affect us.

Additional Facts:

Wendy’s rigorously inspects all of our beef supplier facilities to verify compliance with all USDA and humane handling laws and regulations. Our inspections include independent auditors.
We condemn the inhumane treatment of animals. We direct a comprehensive animal welfare program to promote the best welfare policies available.
Wendy’s has prohibited beef from animals who are not able to walk (“downers”) from entering our supply chain since early 2001.
We fully support the USDA’s decision to initiate this extensive recall to protect the consumer.
