2008 "SHOWCASE SYLVANIA" BUSINESS EXPO

Sylvania, Ohio…The Sylvania Chamber of Commerce announces plans for its annual FREE “Showcase Sylvania” Business Expo on April 5, 2008 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Sylvania Sports and Exhibition Center at Tam-O-Shanter, 7060 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio featuring representation from 150 area businesses. There are a limited amount of booths left to rent and if interested please call the chamber at 419-882-2135. Free parking for the expo is on-site at Tam-O-Shanter, Olander Park, Southview High School and Boulevard Church of Christ. A shuttle is planned for all the off-site parking.

New this year is the Sylvania Community Arts Commission Student Artfest 2008 which will be held at the Senior Center in partnership with the Expo. ArtFest 2008 features artwork of Sylvania area students from grade school to high school.

The show will feature 150 booths that reflect the area’s private and professional business diversity. Visitors can view exciting, interactive displays of area businesses that show off local products and services in a family friendly event. Local residents can learn about the tremendous variety of retail, organizations and service oriented companies’ right in their neighborhood.

Again this year the community will see an “Energy Fair” area offering businesses and consumers an opportunity to learn what is new in energy efficiency. Products and services that reduce utility costs and offer low cost solutions will be highlighted. Home builders and heating and air conditioning savings will be featured. Fry Heating will be bringing in the Tempstar Nascar Simulator.

Additionally, a Taste of Sylvania will be a part of “Showcase Sylvania” Local supermarkets, specialty foods and coffee shops will be offering fresh ideas for entertaining, dinner and healthy alternatives meals. Featured will be Jenna’s Restaurant, San Francisco Oven, The Anderson’s Market, Dinner by Design, Chandler’s Café, Chick-fil-A, Costco, Vito’s Pizza and Eston’s Gourmet.

The children’s area is sponsored by the YMCA/JCC and will have many art and fun activities for the youngsters. Entertainment from local schools and music and dance academies is featured and most businesses will be providing many giveaways. This promises to be a first class event for local businesses.

The Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce will also be announcing their Chamber Champion’s at a preview party for “Showcase Sylvania” on April 4 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Several nominees from the business and non-profit sector will be honored for their business acumen and philanthropy. The award, a one-of-a-kind art piece, was designed by Homer Yarrito, specifically for the Chamber.
