Maumee Valley Smead Luncheon & Alumni Awards Presentation

Former Maumee Valley Country Day School student, Michelle Rhee ‘88 will be the featured keynote speaker at Maumee Valley’s Smead Luncheon and Alumni Awards Presentation on Monday, April 28 at 12 p.m. in the Millhon Auditorium on Maumee Valley’s campus.
Michelle is the chancellor of the District of Columbia Public School System and founder and former-president of The New Teacher Project, a non-profit organization which partners with high-need school districts to recruit and train new teachers. She is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A.) and Harvard University (M.A.) and has also been featured in Newsweek, The New York Times and The Washington Post. She was recognized by Newsweek as one of 16 people whose thinking “will shape our world in the year ahead.” The Jan. 7 edition of the magazine called Michelle “the woman who has D.C’s most unruly job.” Michelle is the 2008 recipient of the Maumee Valley Country Day School Alumni Achievement Award.
Maumee Valley will also honor three other individuals who have given to the life of the school. Jeffrey Wright ’57 is the recipient of the Lifetime Dedication Award, Betsy Kelsey ’71 will receive the Alumni Service Award and Robert Maurer will receive the Alumni Parent Dedication Award.
