Toledo Rock fans have something special to look forward to this year for Memorial Day Weekend. The Verso Group is proud to announce four great rock and roll concerts at Headliners (4500 N. Detroit Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43612, www.headlinerstoledo.com) which are sure to keep all rock fans occupied this coming holiday weekend.

The festivities kick off on Thursday May 22nd with Ann Arbor alternative rock legends TAPROOT taking the center stage. In 2002, Rolling Stone hailed Taproot as “the next contenders for the new-metal crown.” Later that year, their sophomoric record “Welcome” eventually peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200. Blue-Sky Research, released in 2005, included three songs co-written with Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins). Sharing the stage with Taproot will be local rock heroes Dying To Know. Doors will open at 8pm, the show is open to all ages and tickets are $12 in advance / $15 day of show.

Friday, May 23rd brings BLIND MELON who’s smash hit “No Rain,” and many more chart-topping singles like “Tones of Home,” “Change,” and “Galaxie,” massive MTV exposure, a triple-platinum debut album, the cover of Rolling Stone, Grammy and American Music Award nominations, appearances on Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a prime slot at Woodstock ’94, around the world stints with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Soundgarden, Lenny Kravitz and Pearl Jam, a much-anticipated follow-up record in Soup, more touring and suddenly, Hoon’s tragic death in New Orleans (October “95) from an accidental cocaine overdose. with their reformation in 2006 with singer Travis Warren, Blind Melon are poised to pick up exactly where they left off a decade earlier – as evidenced by their new single, “Wishing Well,” and :For My Friends” fourth full-length record overall. Blind Melon rocks Headliners on Friday May 23rd, doors open at 8pm, tickets will be $15 in advance or $18 at the door and all ages are welcome.

On Saturday May 24th, CLUTCH brings their self proclaimed classic rock with an ultra modern sweep to the Headliners Main Stage! n the virtual two decades, since they first came to everyone’s attention, the Maryland marvels have constantly evolved and revised their music, never standing still long enough for anyone to put a critical saddle onto their thoroughbred ideals – this bronco ain’t ever been broken in, nor broken down. Doors for Clutch (Sat. May 24th) at Headliners open at 8pm, tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door and all ages are welcome.

The weekend wouldn’t be complete without GWAR: The brain-child of vocalist Dave Brockie and film producers Hunter Jackson and Chuck Varga, Gwar lurched into existence in the early days of 1985. By combining a hybrid of heavy metal, punk, and hardcore music styles with outrageous, horror film-inspired costumes and scenery, high-tech special effects, and gory, Grand-Guignol stage antics, Brockie, Jackson, and Varga created a new genre of musical entertainment–part rock and roll, part cartoon, part vaudeville, and part social satire. GWAR hits the Main Stage at Headliners on Sunday May 25th, with doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Again, All Ages are welcome.

Advance tickets for all Headliners concerts are available at All Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone 419.474.1333, www.ticketmaster.com , and/or locally at Culture Clash (419.536.LOVE), and Ramalama Records (419.531.ROCK).
