Arts of Fire
Explore a hot new installation in the Glass Pavilion. These works of glass, metal, and ceramic from our collection illustrate how artists use heat, fire, and finesse to transform “molten” into “marvelous.”

Through June 29 | Gallery 18
Exactitudes®: Ones of a Kind
For 13 years, Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek have drawn their inspiration from patterns of dress found within social groups, from fur-clad socialites, to mohawk-wearing punks, to Chinese school boys. The artists pluck their subjects from everyday life, carefully pose them, and photograph them against neutral backgrounds. The resulting three-by-four grids of portraits examine the question: when it comes to physical appearance, are we struggling to stand out or to fit in? While selections from the Exactitudes series have been acquired for numerous private and museum collections, the Toledo Museum of Art is the first museum to acquire all 88 photographs. This exhibition is free and open to the public.
