Partners In Education Seeks Volunteers for the 7th Annual Great Maumee River Dragon Boat Festival
Festival to be held Saturday July 26th at International Park in Downtown Toledo
TOLEDO, OH– June 16, 2008– The 2,400 year old sport of dragon boat racing is coming to Toledo again on Saturday, July 26 when the Partners In Education Great Maumee Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the waters of the Maumee River, at Toledo’s International Park. Partners In Education needs volunteers to help assist the region’s premier paddling event that will include over 1,200 participants.
The festival, presented by BP, will showcase over 40 teams paddling in three races throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded for race times and special categories. The first race of the day places “like” industry teams against each other. First round times will determine the second round (semi-finals) races and finally the championship (finals) round.
To add to the racing excitement, spectators will enjoy live music and entertainment, delicious food and a children’s activity area. In addition, various cultural activities will be presented by the Chinese Association of Greater Toledo.
To support this great event which generates program support for Partners In Education, volunteers are needed for various activities both pre-festival and post-festival. Individuals can sign up to assist with pre-festival team practices and festival set-up, and festival tear down.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up by July 15, to receive priority in scheduling. To volunteer, please visit the festival website and submit an electronic form or download a printable version. Hi, Gretchen.
This is Jim Clower, in Cleveland, associated with the emerging db organization and event here, which took place this past Saturday. Some of us are planning to come over to observe your festival. Coming from the Pacific NW, I am most impressed with what you have created here. You are a true pioneer, girl!
Should it be possible to be a shadow in the background of your event I would be most appreciative. Aura, my sweetheart, and I served in 2 db orgs. before relocating here and we’re putting together a db operation on the Cuyahoga River. I notice you are using GWN, a fine company, as you doubtless have determned.
Paddles Up!
