This summer the Toledo area will be host to a group of young French students ready to spend their summer vacation getting a taste of American life. The World Exchange, a non-profit educational organization, has been placing students from various countries with American families for over twenty years. In 2007 Toledo hosted its first group, and the experience was so successful another group is on its way this year, arriving July 10 and staying through July 29.

The students (boys or girls) are aged 14-18 and come with ample pocket money, full insurance, and an eagerness for fun and learning. All are fairly fluent in English, so host families do not need to know French. Host families are required to provide a bed, daily meals, and time to help the student experience as much of American life as possible. Program directors plan at least two group activities, but the rest of the time is yours to keep the student busy learning about and enjoying your family on a daily basis. This is your family’s chance to experience a foreign adventure and gain a lasting friendship and a better understanding of someone else’s culture.
