In the wake of several media reports, the Columbia Gas Smoke in the Water – Ribs for the Red Cross presented by Key Bank proudly reminds the community that the majority of rib vendors at its event are local.

“We’re very excited that six of our eight confirmed rib vendors are local and have opted to join us in downtown Toledo,” says Red Cross Executive Director Tim Yenrick. “As many restaurants struggle in the current economy, Smoke on the Water is a great opportunity to not only sample some of the best ribs from local, and national, vendors, but support local businesses as well.”
Scheduled for August 1 through August 3, along the banks for the Maumee River in downtown Toledo, Smoke in the Water – Ribs for the Red Cross features some of the best local and national BBQ rib vendors along with top national entertainment. Admission is just $3; children 12 and under are free. Also, there is free admission on Friday until 5 p.m.

The Greater Toledo Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provides disaster preparedness and response, and health and safety education to residents of Lucas, Ottawa and Wood counties, as well as assistance to families with members in the military. Led by volunteers, the Greater Toledo Area Chapter assisted over 800 disaster clients in the last year. For the second year in a row the Chapter has been named one of 80 best-performing chapters in the United States by the national American Red Cross.
