Ohio’s Role in Freight Movement is Focus of TMACOG’s
2008 Ohio Conference on Freight

The second Ohio Conference on Freight, September 15 through 17 at Toledo’s SeaGate Convention Centre, will bring together some of the most influential and experienced people working in freight movement and logistics today. The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) has invited transportation planners and engineers, economic development agencies, construction and other business professionals, and elected officials to participate and hear from internationally known experts.

Keynote Presentation Monday, September 15

Plenary and Luncheon Sessions, September 16-17
• Paul Martin, president; and Bob Stevens CEO, of Melford International Terminal, Inc.:
“Melford International Terminal Logistics Opportunities for Ohio”
• Panel discussion: The Logistics Supply Chain from a Canadian Perspective
• U.S. Chamber of commerce: The 2008 Energy Crisis

Workshops on September 16 and 17 will follow two tracks. The 10 freight sessions will cover rail, road, air, and maritime issues. Moderators and presenters in the freight movement workshops include representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Transportation, the Ohio and Michigan departments of transportation, the University of Toledo Intermodal Transportation Institute, CSX, and the Ohio Rail Development Commission.

The eight workforce development sessions will look at efforts around the country to develop a well-trained and coordinated workforce for the transportation, warehousing, and logistics industries. Moderators and presenters in the workforce development workshops include representatives from the Ohio Department of Development, the Battelle Institute, the Chicago Workforce Board, the American Maritime Officers, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Purdue University, TAC Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration Professional Freight Development Programs.
