Childrens Stage Adventures Seeks 75 Young Actors for Play

Students to be cast in Androcles and the Lion

Auditions for the Children’s Stage Adventures production of “Androcles and the Lion will be held at 4PM, Monday, October 13th at The HISTORIC Ohio Theatre, 3114 Lagrange Street, Toledo, OH 43608. Approximately 55 to 75 local children, grades kindergarten through 12th, will be cast to appear in the show with CSA Actor/Educators Pamela Heintzelman and Dariel Hollander.

The performances will take place on Friday, October 17th at 7 PM and Saturday, October 18th at 2 PM. A favorite Aesop’s Fable comes to like on the stage in this orioinal musical adaption of Androcles and the Lion. When Androclese, a slave, runs from his miserly masters his troubles begin to mount. Soon he is face to face with a fierce lion in the forest. He is sure he has met his end. Fortunately a selfless act of kindness frees the lion from pain and gains Androclese a faithful, lifelong friend. Androcles is later captured and punished or his errors. In the exciting finale Androcles is unexpectedly reunited with his devoted lion friend and spared an unhappy ending.

Children planning to audition should arrive by the scheduled start time and plan to stay for the entire two-hour session. No advanced preparation is necessary to take part in the auditions.

Rehearsals will be conducted from 3:30 – 5:30 PM and 6 – 8 PM every day of the week prior to performances. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, thouse auditioning much have a clear schedule for the entire week, and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the auditions.

Cast members scheduled to rehearse for the full hour hours in one day will be asked to bring a snack meal or snack.

The first hearsal will begin about 30 minutes after the auditions. Approximately 15 children will need to stay for this important first rehersal. A light snack will be provided for the children staying for this first hearsal

2008 – 2009 is Chirldren’ Stage Adventures tenth year touring across the northeast US, with 75+ residencies scheduled. Based in Sullivan, NH, CSA is a non-profit organization supported in part by charitable donations. This coming year houdreds of cost members will take to the stage to the delight and applause of their families, friends, communities, and their neighbors.

The residency program is made possible by The Ohio Theatre Board of Trustees. Come out and support the youth of our community while enjoying a great show.
