Preparations for the 2008 Downtown Holiday Parade Presented by Taylor Cadillac and The Blade are well underway. We are currently accepting applications for volunteers to fill the 300 + volunteer positions needed to move a parade of this magnitude down the streets of downtown Toledo. The 2008 Downtown Holiday Parade Presented by Taylor Cadillac and The Blade will take to the streets of downtown Toledo for the 21st year on November 29, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Each year, over 300 volunteers assist in the festive parade with a variety of parade responsibilities. Balloon Handlers, Route Marshals, Pooper-Scoopers, Banner Carriers and Hospitality Attendants are some of the opportunities available.
The parade route is lined with over 40,000 individuals each year. This year the parade will be filled with over 50 specialty, equestrian, marching bands, vehicles, mascots and helium balloons. It is no wonder why it takes the commitment of hundreds of dedicated volunteers to produce an event that is the size and scope of the Downtown Holiday Parade.
Volunteers need to be at least 16 years of age. All volunteers will receive a free sweatshirt, meal coupon, doughnuts and hot drinks the morning of the parade. It is guaranteed to be a great, festive and fun-filled time! My three granddaughters (Lexus Tidwell, Alana Tidwell, Raela Savage) and myself (David Hardison) are interesed in volunteering in the 2008 Downtown Holiday Parade. I have been trying to download the required application but, i have been having a problem doing so.
