Paws and Whiskers presents Annual Halloween Party Fundraiser

Toledo; October 11, 2008—Paws and Whiskers, Toledo’s non-profit all-cat shelter, hosts their annual Halloween Party Fundraiser on Friday, October 24, 7pm – 11:30pm at St. Clement’s Hall, 2990 Tremainsville, Toledo.

The Cool Cat Strut party and fundraiser features live music by The Skoobie Snaks, dinner, dancing, an auction, cash bar, and raffle, all to benefit the community’s non-profit cat shelter. There is a $250 prize for the best Halloween costume. Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased by calling 419-536-1914 or by going to www.coolcatstrut.com.

Paws and Whiskers is a not-for-profit Ohio Corporation chartered in October 1996. Paws and Whiskers was established to create a safe haven for abandoned, abused, stray and sick felines. Through the tireless efforts of volunteers and generous supporters, ??? hours per week are spent running the shelter, and ???? cats are currently cared for at the shelter. In the past 11 years, 7,642 felines have been placed with caring families through the efforts of Paws and Whiskers.

When a new cat arrives at the shelter, he or she is weighed, checked for any obvious injuries, treated for intestinal parasites, checked for fleas, and given a flea treatment. Each new feline guest then receives food, water, and a warm, safe place to sleep. Each resident also receives a veterinary exam, including testing for a variety of feline diseases, and vaccinations as well. Any serious problems or conditions are surgically corrected. Paws and Whiskers also attempts to have all animals over 4 months of age spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter. The average amount spent on each resident during his or her stay is over $225.

Paws and Whiskers provides 30 days of pet health insurance to assist with expenses should a cat become ill after adoption. If the cat becomes ill in the first 10 days (as can happen with the stress of a move) Paws and Whiskers will cover the medical care at their vet during the insurance waiting period. Paws and Whiskers also offers a “Cat-Back” guarantee; a cat adopted from Paws and Whiskers need never be homeless again because the shelter will take the cat back anytime, for any reason.
