Following a successful event in 2008, the Columbia Gas Smoke on the Water – Ribs for the Red Cross has announced that a downtown summertime tradition will continue in 2009.
Smoke on the Water – Ribs for the Red Cross will take place at Promenade Park in downtown Toledo, from Friday, July 31 though Sunday, August 2, 2009. Admission remains just $3, with kids 12 and under free.
Several vendors have already committed to be part of the event including 2008 People’s Choice winner: Sidelines and 2008 Judge’s Choice winner: Big Moe BBQ. Also returning next year will be Famous Dave’s, PoMo’s, and Tom’s BBQ.
“This year was such a success, raising both funds and awareness for the Red Cross, that we almost immediately began planning for 2009,” says Tim Yenrick, executive director of the American Red Cross Greater Toledo Area Chapter. “We had great support from our local sponsors, large crowds every day and outstanding local vendor support. And we look to build upon that success for 2009.”
In addition, Columbia Gas of Ohio will continue to support the event as the presenting sponsor. This marks the fourth consecutive year Columbia Gas has been the presenting sponsor of Downtown Toledo’s premiere rib event.
“Partnering with the Red Cross to continue this downtown Toledo tradition is something we are extremely proud to be a part of and are looking forward to 2009,” says Chris Kozak, Columbia Gas of Ohio Communications and Community Relations Manager.
Thus far, confirmed media partners for Smoke on the Water – Ribs for the Red Cross include Cumulus Toledo and the Toledo Free Press.
An entertainment line-up will be announced in early 2009.
