Director Guy Ritchie doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to filmmaking. What he does (and does extremely well, by the way) is create jarring, hilarious, and atmospheric works of art. The man behind such modern classics as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch” has done it again with his latest magnum opus, “RocknRolla.”


“W”., the new film by director Oliver Stone, offers a left-of-center—which is expected— but sympathetic and entertaining look at the life of our 43rd president, George W. Bush. Stone, who also directed the controversial films “JFK” and “Nixon,” surprisingly paints the life of Bush with more restraint than expected.

The Dream of a Toledo Film Industry: An Interview with Filmmaker Patrick Hickey.

The Phantasmagoria film festival ran February 24-25th this year at the University of Toledo in conjunction with BASHCon, UT’s gamer convention. The film festival is the brainchild of Patrick Hickey, a recent UT graduate from the Film Department. Hickey, a lifelong Toledo resident, has been interested in filmmaking since his freshman year at UT.I had the privilege of sitting down with Patrick back in February for an interview.


To celebrate the upcoming change in the presidency, it seems fitting to view the origins of the past eight years with the HBO Emmy Award winning movie, Recount. Told with dramatic zest and an engaging narrative, Recount delves into what happened during the 2000 presidential election and the subsequent hours and days following the Florida recount.
