Hens Return Home For Eight Games Starting Friday, May 8

The Toledo Mud Hens return home on Friday, May 8 to begin an eight-game homestand versus the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) and the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox).

Toledo Mud Hens Promotions for May 8-15

Friday, May 8
(Lehigh Valley, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Bacon Lover’s Night. The first 5,000 fans will receive bacon scented air fresheners and bacon flavored sunflower seeds will be handed out upon exit (1,000 bags). There will be a check presentation to United Way during pre-game festivities as part of a year-long strikeout promotion. The contest between the Hens and the Pigs can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Saturday, May 9
(Lehigh Valley, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the second game of the series. There will be post-game fireworks and the first scout sleepover of the season as the scouts pitch their tents in the outfield grass. The contest between the Hens and the Pigs can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Sunday, May 10
(Lehigh Valley, 1st pitch at 2:00 PM – Gates open at 1:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Mother’s Day. Daniel Goddard from Young & The Restless will be on hand to pose for photos and sign autographs from 2-4 pm on the main concourse. Two Mud Hen players will sign free autographs on the main concourse from 1:15-1:45. Not only do kids get to run the bases but moms get to join them circling the bags during post-game activities. The contest between the Hens and the Pigs can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Monday, May 11
(Lehigh Valley, 1st pitch at 10:30 AM – Gates open at 9:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the 1st of three School Celebration Days in 2009! Kids will receive school folders upon exit. The contest between the Hens and the Pigs can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Tuesday, May 12
(Pawtucket, 1st pitch at 6:30 PM – Gates open at 5:30) – The Hens and the PawSox meet up for the first game of their four-game series. It is the only visit of the year for the top affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The contest between the Hens and the Clipper can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230.

Wednesday, May 13
(Pawtucket, 1st pitch at 10:30 AM – Gates open at 9:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Pawtucket Red Sox for the 2nd of three School Celebration Days in 2009! The Maumee High School choir will perform the National Anthem. Kids will receive school folders upon exit. The contest between the Hens and the Pigs can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Thursday, May 14
(Pawtucket, 1st Pitch at 6:30 PM – Gates open at 5:30) – The Hens will host the Pawtucket Red Sox for the third game of the series. It is Legacy of Diversity Night as the Hens celebrate the 125th anniversary of the MLB debut of Moses “Fleetwood” Walker who became the first African-American major league player with Toledo on May 14, 1884. Great grand nephew Mark Palmer of Steubenville, Ohio will catch (barehanded as his ancestor did) the ceremonial first pitch which will be thrown by his son, Mark, Jr. Reggy, the Purple Party Dude will be making an appearance during the game. Fans can also receive a free haircut on the main concourse during the game from Great Clips. The contest can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.

Friday, May 15
(Pawtucket, 1st Pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Hens will host the Pawtucket Red Sox for the final game of the homestand. Reggy, the Purple Party Dude will be making an appearance during the game. Race car driver, Frank Kimmel, will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. The contest can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.
