TOLEDO BLUES FANS PREPARE FOR RETURN
OF LEGENDARY COMMANDER CODY BAND
June 15, 2009 (TOLEDO, Ohio) – Commander Cody, the daddy of musical mayhem and controlled chaos, lands in Toledo with his band for a repeat sellout show Friday, June 26, sponsored by the Black Swamp Blues Society.
Led by keyboardist/vocalist and irrepressible showman George “Commander Cody” Frayne, the Commander Cody Band takes the stage at 8 p.m. at DeSimone’s on Laskey Road near Jackman.
Legendary for his onstage antics, Frayne fronts a new ensemble with the same high levels of musicianship, instrumental virtuosity and spontaneity that made his original band one of the top-rated draws throughout the 70s. From its San Francisco roots, the Commander Cody Band grew to world renown, sharing the bill with the Grateful Dead, the Doors, Led Zeppelin and many other iconic names through the years.
The band continues to pack houses with fans of all ages, performing everything from old-time rock n’ roll and twangy, redneck country to boogie-woogie and swing/jazz, as well as the band’s original irreverent party anthems.
