Mud Hens Homestand Details (August 1-9)

The Toledo Mud Hens return home on Saturday, August 1 for an eight-game homestand versus the Buffalo Bisons (New York Mets) and the Gwinnett Braves (Atlanta Braves).

Saturday, August 1
(Buffalo, 1st Pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will host the Buffalo Bisons in the first game of the new homestand. It is the only visit of the year for the New York Mets affiliate. A pre-game concert performed by “A Touch of Brass” will begin the festivities from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Also, come celebrate Polish night with themed music from Coop-a-Cabana throughout the game and New York, New York night with a Liberty Hat giveaway to the first 3,000 fans. The game will conclude with a traditional post-game fireworks show and a Girl Scout sleepover at the field. The contest between the Mud Hens and Bisons can be seen live on BCSN or heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.

Sunday, August 2
(Buffalo, 1st Pitch at 6:30 PM – Gates open at 5:30) – The Hens host the Bisons in the second of a four-game set. When the gates open, the first 1,000 kids will receive Thunderstix in a free giveaway. Before the game, Mud Hens players will talk about their faith in the annual Home Plate Event. It is also Autograph Sunday, during which two players will sign autographs for a half hour during pre-game. Come down to support the WGTE Raising Readers Promotion with Clifford the Dog throughout the game. Game 2 between the Mud Hens and Bisons can be seen live on BCSN and heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.

Monday, August 3
(Buffalo, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens continue a series with Buffalo and will recognize the winners of the local Million Pound Challenge Contest. Local radio and TV personality Andrew Z will help honor the winners and offer health tips throughout the game. Toledo Mayoral candidate Ben Konop will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at 6:45. Prior to the game, the first day of a three-day Pepsi Baseball Camp will be on the field. The contest between the Hens and the Bisons can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.

Tuesday, August 4
(Buffalo, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will host Buffalo in the final game of a four-game series. The second day of the 2009 Pepsi Baseball Camp will feature stations around the field where Mud Hens players teach baseball fundamentals. The contest between the Hens and the Bisons can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.

Thursday, August 6
(Gwinnett, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will open a series against the Gwinnett Braves, who are the top affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, after the off-day. It is Gwinnett’s only visit to Fifth Third Field for the season. Before the game, the 2009 Pepsi Baseball Camp concludes with three competitions (Speed Pitch, Gold Glove and a Race to 1st Base) followed by a game for each age group. A special appearance by Spiderman will headline the new series with a unique “Dinner with Spiderman” event in the Perch Party area. Also during the game, Great Clips Charity Hair Cuts will be offered throughout the contest on the main concourse. Friday, August 7
(Gwinnett, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – For game two of the series, Mitzi Dulan, America’s Health Expert, will be at the park. Upon leaving the game, 2,000 fans will receive 2 oz honey bears. During the game, up to 200 fans can receive bobbleheads for completing a survey. Also, one lucky fan can enter to win a team autographed jersey while at the game. The games between the Hens and the Braves can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Saturday, August 8
(Gwinnett, 1st pitch at 7:00 PM – Gates open at 6:00) – The Mud Hens will the Braves to continue the homestand on “70’s Night”. A Muddy’s Buddies Kids Club clinic will be on the field from 1:00-2:00 p.m. During the game, fans can bid on the special game-worn 1973 Retro-Jerseys in a silent auction. Following the game, post-game fireworks can be seen following the contest along with a Boy Scout Sleepover after fireworks. The contest between the Hens and the Braves can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and seen live on BCSN.

Sunday, August 9
(Gwinnett, 1st pitch at 6:30 PM – Gates open at 5:00) – The Hens host Gwinnett in the final game of the homestand. Say cheese! Mud Hens Fans will get to take photos with their favorite players as gates will open EARLY at 5:00. Fans can venture down to the field level warning track via section 104/105, where select Mud Hens players will be in groups along the field. It is also Autograph Sunday, during which two Hens players will be on the concourse to sign. Come down to support the WGTE Raising Readers Promotion with a mascot appearance throughout the game. The first 1,000 kids through the gates will receive Thunderstix in a free giveaway. The game will conclude with a traditional post-game fireworks show, Kids Run the Bases, and a Scout sleepover at the field. The contest between the Mud Hens and Braves can be seen live on BCSN or heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.
