Toledo School for the Arts Launches Second Art Attack On
Downtown Toledo

Two-day event in support of the arts and Race for the Cure

On Wednesday, September 23 between 11:30 am and 1:15 pm the Toledo School for the Arts will mount an Art Attack on downtown Toledo. 350 students from the school will perform various activities in the arts for downtown pedestrians, including Living Statues, Conversation with Historical Figures, Random Acts of Poetry, and characters of anime. The events are not publicized in advance, so the impression is one of surprise. Watch for TSA doing what it does best during lunch downtown between Adams and Madison streets.

In 2008, the school staged its first downtown Art Attack, leaving downtown workers to wonder if there might be a encore performance this year. TSA Artistic Director David Saygers explains that Art Attacks “are public activities intended to be surprising or thought provoking, that bring a little of the outdoor vibrancy of bigger cities to Toledo.”

On Friday, September 25th 240 TSA junior high students will perpetrate another Art Attack by creating a 200-foot human ribbon in honor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Wearing 250 pink bandanas donated by the Susan B. Komen Foundation, TSA students will start at 12:45pm and march down Adams Street in rows of 4 (four) students and will be lead to the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn (Adams and Erie streets) where they will form into the pink ribbon. They will hold this pose for approximately 5 minutes, then march back to school.

TSA wants to support and bring awareness to the local Race for the Cure which will be taking place on Sunday, Sept. 27.
