Lourdes Fall Music Showcase Set for October 11th

On Sunday, October 11, the Lourdes College Department of Music will present its Fall Music Showcase at 3 p.m. in the Franciscan Theatre and Conference Center. Lourdes faculty, students and choirs will perform three mini-concerts including:

Opening Concert – 3 p.m.?Vocal and instrumental music featuring Lourdes student Brittany Hahnlen and guest musician Larissa Orlowski, piano four hands, the Buenger Family musicians and a surprise performer.??

Pianist Olga Topuzova-Meade – 4 p.m.?Lourdes College will introduce its new Choral Accompanist and Applied Piano Instructor Olga Topuzova-Meade as she performs music by Rachmaninoff and Brahms. Olga was born and trained in the Ukraine and has been featured in solo piano performances in Austria, France, Italy and Romania.  She received a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Bowling Green University. ??

Choral Finale: Celebrating Joseph Haydn – 5p.m. ?The Lourdes Choirs are celebrating 1809-2009:  The bicentennial of Franz Joseph Haydn’s death and Felix Mendelssohn’s birth with choruses and solos from The Creation and Elijah, two oratorios in the tradition of Handel’s Messiah.  These well-known choral “war horses” are inspiring to sing and hear. Lourdes Student Keesha Mosley along with the Lourdes choirs and soloists will also premier The Beginning.

Free and open to the public. Grazing stations will be set up during the event and a reception will follow the last performance.
