The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is proud to announce its celebration of 70 years of the ‘Dark Knight’ in comics with Batman At 70, a program and exhibition scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, November 9 in the McMaster Center at Main Library, 325 Michigan St.

Local comic book historian Jim Beard returns to Main Library to host a special Batman retrospective featuring a live, interactive video chat with Greg Rucka, comic book writer and best-selling author.

A companion Batman At 70 exhibition will feature vintage comics and collectables, a life-sized recreation of the legendary ‘Bat Cave’, and a history of amazing bat-gadgets over the decades.

Batman made his first appearance in June 1939 and quickly became what is arguably the most popular comic book character ever. Join Your Library as we look back at his creation by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, all the way up to his ‘death’ in 2009!

Interpreters for the hearing impaired are available for this program by calling 419.259.5266 one week in advance of the program.
