HAR HAR – An update: "Law and Order" Changes our plans…

Posted Oct 9th, 2009 by Irene Alby  Category: Arts & Entertainment, Toledo.com

The life and schedule of a professional actor can get pretty complicated, but when Law and Order calls and offers you a prime guest spot on the show there is nothing complicated about what your answer should be. The correct answer is “Yes, I’m available for that shoot!” even when shooting conflicts with the first week of your Toledo gig.
We’re very pleased for Joseph Langham’s opportunity, and so to accommodate his shooting schedule, we’ve arranged to push our HAR HAR dates back one week to:
HAR HAR: An Evening with Harburg Harrisbrandt

October 22 – 24

& 29 – 31

Studio A
The Valentine Theatre
410 Adams Street

MORE INFO:
GTC is pleased to present “HAR HAR: An Evening with Harburg Harrisbrandt “. A one act play with one compelling character, HAR HAR is written and performed by award winning New York actor and playwright, Joseph Langham. “Har Har” is a singer songwriter who tries to perform his songs for a nightclub audience, but constant distraction, an odd sense of self and a desire to please keep sending him off in other directions. This hilarious and moving show was first seen at The New York International Fringe Festival where it won the 2001 Excellence Award for Solo Show. It was subsequently picked up for an extended run at the Under St. Marks Theatre in Manhattan where it had rave reviews and sold out houses and later toured to Arizona where it received overwhelming emotional outpourings from audience members after each show. Canada’a Royal Conservatory of Music also invited Mr. Langham to perform the piece for its annual Learning Through The Arts teachers’ convention in Niagara Falls. “We wanted to bring something different to Toledo, and ‘HAR HAR’ is part of the vibrant downtown theatre scene in New York,” says Holly Monsos, GTC’s Executive Director.

HAR HAR opens Oct 22nd at 8 p.m. in Glacity’s new home: Studio A at The Valentine Theatre. It continues with evening performances on Oct 23, 24, 29, 10 & 31. Entrance is 140 Adams Street – doors (and bar) open at 7:30, with the show at 8:00 pm. Ticket prices are $15 and are available at www.glacity.tix.com in advance. Tickets at the door are cash/check only. Go to www.glacity.org for more info.

Joseph Langham is a singer-songwriter, playwright, comedian and multiple award-winning actor. His many creations include another Fringe Festival hit, the recently published Out to Lunch, as well as Gilligan Stump & Tha Perfesser; a two man music comedy act, and CRUX; a sweet play about the end of the world.
