ALMA Dance Experience is pleased to present another installment of our “Guest Workshop Series”, this time featuring a dance workshop with Assane Seck, from Chicago.

A native of Dakar, Senegal, West Africa, Assane Seck is a Wolof Griot – a musical storyteller by family heritage with a tradition that is traced back hundreds of years. He studied the arts of dance and drum under the direction of Lasana D’Jibata. Since coming to the United States in 1991, Assane’s mission has been to teach people the history of West African drum and dance. He has conducted drum and dance classes, workshops, and has choreographed various productions, for schools, church organizations, and other institutions. Assane has also performed with a variety of professional groups, including the West Indian Folk Dance Company of Chicago, and Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago.

No experience is necessary, all levels of dancers welcome!
