9th Annual Claire’s Day
A Celebration of Life, Authors, Illustrators and Reading Excellence

Come and join the fun and mark your calendars now for the 9th Annual Claire’s Day celebration scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 at the Maumee Branch Library, 501 River Rd., in Maumee.

Claire’s Day 2010 is a family community book festival created in honor and memory of a local child named Claire Lynsey Rubini (1990-2000), who loved reading and telling stories. The event title, named in memory of Claire, is an acronym for a Celebration of Life, Authors, Illustrators and Reading Excellence.

During the daylong celebration, visiting authors and illustrators will give 50-minute entertaining and educational presentations in the Maumee Branch auditorium. The lectures often include slide shows, drawing demonstrations, and audience participation.

The children’s book authors and illustrators joining Claire’s Day 2010 include:
· Karen Bell-Brege and Darrin Brege
· Wil Clay
· Shutta Crum
· Carole Gerber
· Diana Magnuson
· Shelley Pearsall
· Christine Petrell Kallevig
· Julie K. Rubini
· Michael B. Spradlin
· Tracie Vaughn Zimmer
· Christina Ward

An onsite bookstore is available to purchase books. Storytellers, entertainment, hands-on activities and food and refreshment will take place outside of the Maumee Branch in tented areas. A book-signing tent will be on hand for the authors and illustrators, and a key feature of the day is the C.A.R.E. Awards, given to children nominated as the most improved readers in their schools!
