Dwight Lenox to Perform in Lakeside Memorial Day Weekend

Lakeside, Ohio – Hoover Auditorium, one of the cultural hot spots on Lake Erie, hosts a variety of musicians, comedians, illusionists, dancers and bands nightly. This year, the historic auditorium will host acts such as The Spinners, Micky Dolenz of THE MONKEES, Gregg Rolie, Kathy Mattea, The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats, Capitol Steps, OSU Alumni Band, The American Tenors, Larry Miller and the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra. Daily fun and family entertainment await guests of all ages in Lakeside.

On Saturday, May 29 at 8:15 p.m. Lakeside’s historic Hoover Auditorium will host Dwight Lenox. He will be presenting a concert titled, “An Evening with Gershwin, Porter, Cole & Friends.” There is no gate pass required to enter the grounds of Lakeside on Memorial Day weekend, however, there is an $8 charge at the door to attend Lenox’s performance, or present a 2010 Chautauqua season pass.

For more than 20 years, the rich tenor voice of Dwight Lenox has captivated audiences around the country. Lenox grew up in New York and sharpened his vocal talent by performing in the church choir and studying country and rock n’ roll. However, his gospel roots, combined with childhood influences, Nancy Wilson, Nat King Cole and Sarah Vaughn, made jazz his ultimate passion.

In this evening performance, Lenox will perform musical styles from blues to ballads, and jazz to swing. He has a vast repertoire of music from Frank Sinatra, James Ingram, Stevie Wonder, Lou Rawls and many more. His unique abilities are noticed in his original music.

He has performed with Sammy Tucker and renowned organist Hank Marr, and has been showcased alongside Freddie Hubbard, Ramsey Lewis and Herbie Mann. Lenox is a featured vocalist with the 17-piece Columbus Jazz Orchestra and shares the stage with Harold Jones and Carmen Bradford.

Lenox has performed across the country with his band, The Lenox Avenue Express. They perform at galas, fundraisers, private parties and clubs allowing a large audience to hear his gifted vocals.
