Toledo Botanical Garden Appoints New Executive Director

The Toledo Botanical Garden Board is pleased to announce that Karen Ranney Wolkins has joined the TBG team as the new Executive Director. With over 25 years of professional experience, Ms. Ranney Wolkins has served in a variety of leadership, development and marketing positions for several local organizations including The Toledo Symphony, and most recently as Vice President of Marketing and Development for Sunset Retirement Communities in Toledo.
According to board president Mimi Creutz, “Karen brings extensive experience in analyzing and improving existing operations as well as orchestrating and implementing improvements in organizational performance and fiscal soundness. We are excited to have her on board.”
Ms. Ranney Wolkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hartwick College and has served on the Board of Directors of the Toledo School for the Arts, the Sunset House in Toledo, and the Catholic Family Center in Rochester, New York.
“It’s a privilege to be working at Toledo Botanical Garden and I am thrilled to be here,” states Ms. Ranney Wolkins. “ There is a wonderful opportunity to increase TBG’s relevance in this community and to build on the great work that has already been accomplished. Not only do we have a magnificent garden that is open free of charge for the entire community, but we also have our Toledo GROWs outreach program, which is working with over 100 local neighborhoods and organizations to develop sustainable urban gardens throughout the city. Combine all of that with TBG’s focus on the arts and you have a rich resource that is essential to support and grow.”
