This year marks ALMA’s 8th appearance in ”Winter Legacies”, an annual concert series from the Toledo Museum of Art. ALMA’s performance is a one hour concert of traditional West African Drum and Dance, taking place in the museum’s Great Gallery, beginning at 4:45pm, Sunday, December 26th, 2010.

This year’s ALMA show will feature new costumes, more singing, new arrangements, and new rhythms, including “Ballant” a piece from Artistic Director Yaya Kabo’s hometown, Casamance, Senegal.

This performance is very family friendly, free, and open to the public. Arts making opportunities happening at the museum during the day for young people.

ALMA thanks the Toledo Museum of Art for their continued support; 2010 has been another year of tremendous growth and blessings for ALMA Dance Experience, and we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to share and celebrate with our community.

ALMA is the only professional West African Drum & Dance ensemble in the Toledo area, and we are proud to have internationally acclaimed musician and artist, Yaya Kabo, originally from Casamance, Senegal, serving as the ALMA Artistic Director since 2007.

ALMA exists to celebrate dance and music, to bring dance and music to everyone, and to capitalize on the talents each individual artist brings to the group, to the stage and to the classroom. ALMA is committed to artistic excellence through continuous study, performance, and sharing of our art forms. ALMA is also dedicated to collaboration; working with other artists to build a larger, and more vibrant, dance and music community.
