Toledo School for the Arts Presents: Kaleidoscope 2011
TSA stages their biggest show of the year
With the theme Light and Color Toledo School for the Arts (TSA) presents the 11th Annual Kaleidoscope, a dazzling showcase of dance, theater, music, visual and literary arts at the historic Valentine Theater in downtown Toledo. Performances are Friday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday May 14th at 2:30 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m.
A visual arts exhibition of paintings, drawings, photographs, graphic design works, ceramics, and glassware will be available for view an hour and a half before each performance in the Valentine Theater’s Grand Lobby.
Vol*U*Me 3, a collection of students’ poetry, songs, prose and musings, will be for sale in the lobby along with school store items and original creations by TSA’s Artisans’ Guild, a group of visual arts students learning how an arts business works.
Each of school’s studios will present their versions of the Light and Color theme. Among the many numbers performed this year will be a dance and percussion number performed to Benny Goodman’s “Sing, Sing, Sing”, a tribute to New Orleans by the TSA Studio Orchestra performing music from Disney’s Princess and the Frog, and an original short play based on the classic board game Clue.
A highlight of each year’s show has been the student solo pieces, which include arrangements, chorography and writing by students. Each performance will have different student solos or ensemble acts making each performance unique with original songs and choreography.
