Girls and women of all ages will be enjoying a night out on the town while helping a local organization. Chicks for Charity, an informal group of more than 1,800 women who want to give back to the community, is hosting Chicks Mix ’11 on Wednesday, July 13 at the Toledo Botanical Garden from 5:30 – 9 p.m.

The event is open to the public, and girls and women of all ages are encouraged to attend. Tickets for the evening are $37 each, junior chicks 20 and under are $20. All proceeds raised that evening will help provide academic, cultural, social, and service-learning activities for Toledo area youth through the International Boxing Club. To purchase tickets for the event or to learn more about Chicks Mix ‘11, visit or call 419.241.2221.

“This always is a great night, full of fun and laughter,” said Martha Vetter, President of R/P Marketing Public Relations and founder of the Chicks for Charity organization. “This year, I hope the women of Toledo will show the youth of our community that we believe in them and truly want to make a difference through the money that is raised during this event. IBC is a wonderful organization that we’re proud to be associated with.”

Chicks Mix ‘11 will feature great conversation, appetizers and cocktails at the Toledo Botanical Garden. In addition, many fun and unique raffle and silent auction items from local businesses will be given away throughout the evening. IBC youths will share personal stories on how the program has instilled moral values and helped guide them to succeed in life.

IBC is a unique organization that provides programs that benefit more than 4,000 youth in the greater Toledo area. It is called International Boxing Club (IBC) to attract young men and women from the streets, but it’s about so much more than boxing. In fact, only two percent of participants actually compete. Rather, IBC focuses on giving at-risk youth a fighting chance to achieve their potential. The community program offers them valuable tools – academic and vocational programs, inspiration, confidence, community service opportunities and more – to build their success. IBC’s programs are offered at no cost, eliminating financial burdens for families and giving the youth in our community a place to go for fun and friendship.

Chicks for Charity is a group of women who want to transform the Toledo community through occasional fun lunches, happy hours and special events. Each Chick member organizes a fun, simple event with family, friends or associates to raise money that is then donated to the group’s designated charity. This is the sixth year for the organization. Previous organizations that have benefited from Chicks for Charity include Furniture Bank, Beach House, Assistance Dogs of America, Inc. and The Victory Center.
