Then take off on a world tour of reading and participate in something really fun, free and exciting this summer as the Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Club (SRC) for everyone in the entire family from tiny babies to adults.

Summer Reading Club 2011 is a free reading program of fun activities and great prizes from June 6 through August 6. What better way to let your creative juices flow than to read books of all topics in warm weather sun! To begin the journey, children and families fill out an entry form and visit public libraries to choose what they want to read as part of a summertime mix of reading books, activities, prizes and so much more! Last year, some 13,000 Lucas County residents participated in the Library’s Summer Reading Club! Don’t miss out this year!

Register for SRC 2011 online at or at any library location beginning June 6!

SRC’s 2011 One World, Many Stories involves four Clubs, including a new baby club:

· Ages 0-3 – Baby Club/Read to Me
· Preschool-5th Grade
· 6th-12th Grade

Experts in the fields of child brain development and reading research agree on the value of strengthened literacy skills gained by children who read during the summer months.
