Happy Trails, Saturday, June 18 at Wildwood Preserve
Up to 1,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate in this year’s Happy Trails 5K and related events Saturday, June 18, at Wildwood Preserve Metropark. Money raised from the annual event is used to maintain trails throughout the Metroparks.

The 5K run/walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Ward Pavilion at the east entrance to Wildwood, near Corey Road, and ends at the Manor House. A new, cross-country course this year will keep runners and walkers entirely within the park and will include a variety of surfaces, from paved roads to dirt and stone trails.

Also new this year is a BCSN Fit One-Mile Walk led by Muddy the Mud Hen, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the same location. The walk is sponsored by Buckeye Cablesystem,

Registration for each of these events is now open at MetroparksToledo.com. Same-day registrations are also welcome. See the website for details.

Registration for the 5K run or walk is $18 until June 12, $25 June 13-18, with a special family rate of $65 for 4 or more people. Packet pick up will be June 15-17 at the Ward Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, and on race day from 7:30. to 9 a.m.

Registration for the BCSN Fit One-Mile Walk is $10 for those 16 and over and free for anyone 15 and under. A special $30 family rate is offered.

Happy Trails is sponsored by Metroparks, The Andersons, Inc., Dave’s Running Shop, Paramount Health Care, ProMedica Health Systems, 7 Up Bottling Group of Toledo, Toledo Roadrunners and Team Reliv.

The American Dairy Association will distribute milk to all participants after the walk.
