Local Pitch, Hit & Run Participants Advance In Competition

(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Mud Hens are pleased to announce that two participants from the April 23rd Pitch, Hit & Run competition hosted by the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field advanced to the Team Championships at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH. Over 100 kids competed in the first phase of the competition in Toledo.

In Cleveland, Jacob Heizelman placed 2nd in the 9-10 year old division. Heizelman will be entering 5th grade at St. Patricks of Heatherdowns School in the fall.

Matthew Aumiller placed 1st overall in the 13-14 year old division at Cleveland. With the 1st place finish, Matthew has a chance to compete in the National Finals at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Arizona! Matthew also attends St. Patricks of Heatherdowns School and just graduated 8th grade.

**Both boys will be recognized for their tremendous achievement prior to the Mud Hens game on Sunday, July 17. The game starts at 6:00 pm. The on-field recognition will occur at approximately 5:40 pm.

The Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run is an exciting skills competition that provides boys and girls the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game. Winning scores at the Team Championships are compared nationally to determine the top scores and the participants that will advance to the National Finals.
