(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that they have reached an affiliation agreement with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League for the 2011-12 season.

Under terms of the agreement, Chicago will assign contracted players to the Walleye.
With an emphasis on player development, the Walleye will serve as the Blackhawks ECHL affiliate. The Walleye will also work and develop prospects with Chicago’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

Joe Napoli, Walleye President/General Manager, discussed the affiliation, “We have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with the Chicago Blackhawks. Mark Bernard has been a pleasure to work with as we continue to develop future AHL and NHL talent.”

“Once again, we are thrilled to be affiliated with the Toledo Walleye as Joe Napoli, Nick Vitucci and the entire Toledo organization have been first class over the previous two seasons,” said Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard. “Nick has and will continue to do an excellent job developing our young prospects in an environment that is second to none at the ECHL level.”

The Walleye will begin their third season of play at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo on Saturday, October 15th versus the Chicago Express. For ticket information, call (419) 725-WALL.
