(Released June 29, 2011) – Want to read books in a series and in chronological order? Do you want a recommendation of similar books and similar authors to your favorite reads? The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library has now integrated NoveList® to its database selection to provide these options and more!

NoveList is a division of EBSCO Publishing that includes over 150,000 fiction titles, and over 4,000 custom created articles and lists. The NoveList database allows patrons and librarians to search for book titles based on age/reading level, subject, title or author. NoveList also provides reviews, similar authors and titles. Plus book discussion ideas, lists of award winners, and Lexile ® reading levels especially for parents and teachers. (The Lexile ® framework for reading measures – via a reading rest or program – either an individual’s reading ability or the difficulty of a text, like a book or magazine article.)

Through NoveList at toledolibrary.org, for example, if you input author Elizabeth Gilbert’s popular book title, “Eat Pray, Love” – NoveList will give you similar titles such as “An Italian Affair” by Laura Fraser; “Hold me tight and tango me home” by Maria Finn and many others. NoveList will also provide similar authors to Gilbert such as Sue Monk Kidd, Rita Golden Gelman, and Frances Mayes and more.

Get started by selecting NoveList in the catalog section of toledolibrary.org
